The Nigeria Center of Disease Control NCDC last night announced 14 new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria. Of the 14 new cases, 13 were recorded in Lagos while one in Delta. The agency also used the opportunity to apologise for the wrong result it released for Bauchi state on Wednesday. According to the agency, only 6 confirmed cases of Coronavirus are in Bauchi and not 8 as tabulated in their results released on Wednesday. The United States of America threatened on Thursday, April 9, to cut off Beijing-controlled China Telecom from serving the US market because of legal and security risks, the Justice Department announced. A recommendation by the government’s top departments, including Defense, State and Homeland Security, said that the Federal Communications Commission should “revoke and terminate” all authorizations for the Chinese giant’s US subsidiary, China Telecom (Americas), to provide international telecommunications services to and from the United States. "The Executive Branch agencies identified substantial and unacceptable national security and law enforcement risks associated with China Telecom’s operations, which render the FCC authorizations inconsistent with the public interest," the Justice Department said in a statement. Chad's embassy has written Nigeria over some videos shared online, which it said was taken out of context and alleging inaction or non-participation of the Nigerian army in the fight against Boko Haram. Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has recovered from Coronavirus. Makinde, who revealed a week ago that he tested positive to the deadly virus, disclosed that he has beat it and his second test came back negative. He announced this via his official Twitter account. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone, especially Professor Alonge Temitope, the Acting Head of Oyo State COVID-19 task force. He added that he will resume his duties today April 6. He wrote: "I am deeply moved by your prayers and support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second negative test result for COVID-19. I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force. "I am also grateful to all members of the Task Force for their cooperation during this time. I will be resuming my responsibility as Head of the Task Force from tomorrow."
